Circular Carbon Pathways: Pre-Seed Investment in African Carbon Removal

About
Circular Carbon Pathways (CCP): financing Africa's carbon removal infrastructure, one biochar facility at a time.
The durable carbon removal market is projected to exceed $100B by 2030, yet sub-Saharan Africa accounts for under 5% of deployments, despite holding the world's most abundant, low-cost biomass. Zambia alone loses 250,000–300,000 hectares of forest a year while more than 5.5 million tonnes of underutilised biomass (invasive species, agricultural residues, sawmill and urban waste) go unused.
What we do. CCP is a project developer and operator of high-integrity biochar facilities in sub-Saharan Africa. We convert invasive and waste biomass into durable biochar through pyrolysis, generating permanent carbon removal, verifiable carbon credits, and soil-restoring biochar, while controlling invasive species and creating rural livelihoods. Our platform is built to scale sequentially across projects (TopCo → HoldCo → local project SPVs), so pooled capital funds a pipeline rather than one-off projects.
Traction & proof points.
-
Flagship project GN Biochar 1 with a Zambian agribusiness serving 30,000+ smallholder farmers: converting groundnut-shell residue into durable biochar carbon removal. MoU signed July 2026; feasibility and OEM selection under way; commissioning targeted Q3 2027.
-
Commercial partnership with PyroCCS, an Africa-experienced pyrolysis technology provider, on carbon credit marketing and sales.
The ask. We are raising a pre-seed round into the parent company (TopCo), structured as equity or a convertible/SAFE instrument. The capital funds founder operations, EU entity setup, carbon-registry registration, and first project development. Round size, ticket sizes and terms are shared on request. Early investors gain preferential terms and the chance to help shape a replicable model for African carbon removal.
Who we're looking for. Angel and impact investors who want exposure to durable carbon removal in sub-Saharan Africa, combining measurable climate impact (permanent CDR, biodiversity restoration) with early-stage upside.
Team. Dr. Byron Truscott (Co-Founder & CEO; Zambian-raised, PhD Chemistry, St Andrews; 10+ years scaling environmental technologies) and Hannes Weiland MBA (Co-Founder & COO; 15 years cleantech commercialisation, repeat founder).
